DIED: Grandma McCarthy died at the home of the daughter in Topeka Wednesday. The funeral was held from the Catholic church in Edgerton Thursday morning at 11 o'clock and her remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery. Full obituary will be published in our next issue.

Obituary

Mary A. McCarthy (nee Coughlan) was born November 4, 1817, in the Parish of Scull county, Cork, Ireland, [i.e. Parish of Scull, County Cork, Ireland] came to the United States in 1848, having lived in Maine, Ohio, and Kentucky, came to Kansas March 10, 1857, and settled near Edgerton, which has been her home continually since [sic] her demise December 30, 1903. She is survived by four members of her family, two sons and two daughters--St. Felicitas, who is superior of St. Joseph hospital, Denver, Col., Ellen, who lives in Topeka, and John and Florence at Edgerton, all of whom join in thanking their friends for the many tokens shown at the disposition of their mother.
